The Cherry Hill Fire Department has been a partner with the Cherry Hill School District providing fire safety education for many years. Since 2014 we've presented a program entitled "Safety Smart". Safety Smart is a school-based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. Safety Smart is being taught in grades 1, 3, 5 and 6 as part of the Physical/Health Education Program. Please take a moment to fill out a brief survey about Safety Smart.

Just in time for the 2018 – 2019 school year, Cherry Hill Public Schools kicks off a contest to award a deserving CHPS middle school teacher a brand new, fully furnished, state-of-the-art classroom! Imagine:
· State-of-the-art modular furniture for creative seating arrangements
· A teacher desk and chair
· An interactive flat panel
· Chromebooks for each student
· A "Day of Shopping" for supplies
Now through June 8, 2018 eligible teachers are invited to submit a digital representation (video or song) no more than four minutes or a 1,000-word-or-fewer essay describing their teaching style, how this future-ready setup will enhance the student experience and why their classroom needs a makeover. Details on the contest, contest submission information and the online application are now available.
The 2018 Summer Reading titles and assignments for rising 6th through 12th graders are now available online.
Dr. Meloche has issued an important letter regarding the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment for Science (NJSLA-S) field test, to be administered to 5th, 8th and 11th grade students in May. This assessment replaces the NJASK Sciene and NJ Biology Competency Test (NJBCT) administered in previous years. This letter details the process required for refusing the test. Refusals must be received by building principals by Friday, May 4, 2018.

Registration for CHPS School-Age Child Care (SACC) and Extended Day Child Care (EDCC) for the 2018-2019 school year is now open. Parents may register their children now online.
The Learning Community (LC) 3 trip to Mt. Misery is still scheduled to take place 3/20 (8:45am drop off) and students will be returning on 3/23 (11am pickup). Please make sure students have the proper attire and footwear for conditions that they will experience over the course of the next four days. The recently modified 2018 PARCC assessment schedule is now set. Assessments will begin Monday, April 16, 2018 with high school testing. Middle school testing will begin Friday, April 20, and elementary school testing will begin Thursday, May 3. Middle school will test one unit per day. The elementary school schedule has been extended for two days.
A full schedule, including make-up dates, details the subjects tested on each day. Additionally, high school graduation assessment requirements for the classes of 2016 through 2021 and beyond, as well as a general calendar for all assessments, are now available.
Go shopping at school for great books for a great cause--all proceeds go to the Rosa PTA and Rosa Library. Book fair starts Monday!

The 2018-2019 High School Course Selection Booklet for both high schools East and West is available online. The booklet also is available in the school libraries, and in the offices of school guidance counselors, principals and assistant principals. Also available online is the High School Course of Study Presentation, presented in January to parents of 8th graders.

Congratulations to Rosa's Art and Literary Magazine for winning second place in the nation for middle school art and literary magazines for the 2016-2017 school year from the American Scholastic Press Association. The American Scholastic Press Association award is the most coveted honor for school publications in the country. Congrats to all student writers, artists and staff members of Art and Literary on your achievement. We hope even more students will share your talents for our 2017-2018 issue. Rosa students can submit their end art, photos and writing to email@example.com.
This year, the district has decided that all Cherry Hill schools will be participating in The Great Kindness Challenge. During the week of January 22-26, 2018 students will be completing a checklist of kind acts. Each student will also be creating personalized "Thank You" cards to give to our local first responders, e.g. police, fire, EMS etc. Please click here for additional information.
Please be advised that the Mt. Misery parent meeting scheduled for Monday, January 8th has been cancelled and will now be held on Thursday, January 25th at 7pm in the Rosa cafeteria.
To give greater flexibility in scheduling parent/teacher conferences this year, we have made conference schedules available via the internet. **Please note that if you did not receive a letter stating that your child's LC or math teacher are requesting a conference, then you are not able to access our system. The scheduling system will be available from Friday, November 17, 2017 through 4 PM, Friday, December 3, 2017. Appointments are available on a first come, first serve basis. Our scheduling system will allow you to schedule time for a 15-minute conference with your child's learning community and/or math teacher. Please click here to schedule your conference.

Rosa warmly welcomes author Phillip Hoose on October 11th. The PTA-sponsored author visit will showcase Mr. Hoose's book "The Boys Who Challenged Hitler" about a group of teens who helped initiate resistance against the Nazi occupation of Denmark. If your student missed the last day of school, please note that report cards and certificates (if applicable) are available for pick up in the main office Monday – Thursday between the hours of 7:30am-4pm. Anything remaining after August 31st will be disregarded.

Turn in your child's sports physical forms by August 21, 2017! FORMS TURNED IN ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL MAY NOT BE REVIEWED IN TIME FOR TRY OUTS! Make sure that sports physical forms are filled out completely. Incomplete forms will be returned. See the nurse eboard for more information.
Did you get your Cherry Hill Summer Reading book yet? The Rosa Summer Reading Lending Library is now open for parents to bring incoming Rosa students to the main office to choose a book to borrow instead of purchasing.
If you are interested in borrowing a math book over the summer, they'll be available starting Wednesday, July 5th. All books must be returned by Tuesday, August 15th. Please contact Mrs. Lackey in the main office with any questions.
